Introduction
The Advanced Rig Mechanic Programme (ARMP) forms the third, advanced level of ModuSpec's Mechanical educational curriculum (Introductory, Intermediate and Advanced levels) and is intended to bring theoretical as well as practical knowledge of rig mechanical personnel to a higher, specialist level.
Due to the in-depth nature of the course, it is recommended as the next step for candidates who have successfully completed ModuSpec's Rig Mechanic Programme and to all who want to broaden their knowledge of mechanical equipment on drilling units.
Who should attend?
This programme is aimed at:
Objectives
At the end of the programme the candidates will be able to:
The course is designed to increase the awareness of how and why equipment can develop faults and consequently fail. This knowledge and awareness reduces the chances of such failures occurring.
Programme Content
The topics covered during this programme include:
Structure
The 10-day programme, divided into two 5-day sessions, consists of both theoretical and practical components. The trainees are required to complete tasks, practical assignments and exams to demonstrate competence in the chosen field.
The classroom sessions entail an extensive overview of much of the equipment associated with drilling units. Additionally, the practical assignments, designed to be completed between the two classroom sessions, allow trainees to carry out specific mechanical equipment reviews and in-depth examination of maintenance systems. These assignments also help Mechanics understand their impact on rig operations. The use of business case studies, system breakdown analysis and maintenance system tools ensures ongoing learning.
This programme forms a structured way of determining the ability of the trainee to advance.
Qualifications
Upon successful completion of the Advanced Rig Mechanic Programme, candidates receive a ModuSpec Certificate of Completion or, in case of a final exam score below 70%, a ModuSpec Certificate of Attendance.
Duration
10-day classroom session, divided into the following phases: a 5-day classroom session, followed by approximately six months of on-the-job work assignments and assessment, completed by a 5-day classroom session.
Educational path
This is the last part of the tri-level educational programme of the mechanical discipline.
