Timing &

structure

Two days of classroom sessions.

Educational programme consisting of:

  • Two 5-day classroom sessions.
  • Six  months of on-the-job work assignments between the sessions.

Two training periods spread over 6 months that consist of:

  • Two 5-day classroom modules.
  • One practical assignment, to be completed between the modules.

  • Basic (visual) rig inspection.
  • Major items, which influence safety and operation of a rig.
  • Major inspection criteria of the main rig equipment and safety issues.
  • Recognising the overall condition and deficiencies of a rig.
  • Performing planned maintenance tasks.
  • Understanding the function of mechanical equipment (engines, compressors, tuggers, hydraulic systems, etc.)
  • Standards used in the drilling industry (IPA, etc.) and certification.
  • Well control equipment deficiencies.
  • Presentation of the majority of equipment configuration associated with both land and offshore drilling units.
  • Presentation of various types of operating procedures.
  • Compliance regulations.
  • General rig electrical operations.
  • Planned maintenance procedures.
  • In-depth study of electrical rig equipment.
  • Providing knowledge necessary to support the candidates to advance within the mechanical discipline.
  • Extensive overview of various equipment, operating procedures, maintenance activities and rig mechanical operations.
  • Generic maintenance procedures - wide range of procedures and complex maintenance tasks.
  • Fault analysis and fault finding.
  • Installation and upgrade of equipment.
