Biography - Eric Adlard

Eric Adlard's career began at a factory in Aberdeen, where, at the age of fifteen he started serving his apprenticeship in heavy engineering.  Later, Eric joined the Merchant Marine and spent ten years at sea.  During this period he reached the rank of Chief Engineer.  In 1983, Eric left the Merchant Navy and joined the oilfield, where he worked as a Rig Mechanic until 1994 when he completed his first ModuSpec survey.  He continued working in the offshore industry until 1996, before joining ModuSpec full time.  After he had worked for ModuSpec's Aberdeen office for five years, Eric was transferred to Singapore and finally moved with his family to Australia.

Eric's debut as a trainer dates back to 2005.  In recognition of his knowledge and experience, Eric was appointed as a ModuSpec trainer and started delivering his first courses.

Currently, Eric Adlard holds the position of General Manager: ModuSpec Australia, and oversees Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.  He combines this position with developing and writing new training materials for the drilling industry, and working as a trainer.  Eric holds a Second Engineer's Ticket with a Chief Engineer's endorsement, and he is an Associate Member of the Institute of Marine Engineers and, as an Engineering Technician, of the Engineering Council.

Eric Adlard says:

Training is thrilling and exciting and I really love this part of my work, because of the interactive opportunities I have with others in my discipline.  ModuSpec has a message to share with the oil and gas industry, and through training, we are at the frontline with the industry at large. Training is a perfect opportunity to convey our message in a credible and trusted way.

Being able to share information with others is a very important aspect of what I do. The knowledge I have imparted through the highly developed ModuSpec training material and from my own experience with drilling rigs is really appreciated by our candidates.

It is our job as trainers to make sure that the students have as much information as possible to do their jobs safely. We are raising the bar in our industry through our unique training.
